Being in a relationship is an option which we choose to ensure our “Happily ever after life.” Relationships are very important to us and all humans crave for and certainly need a bond that prevents our life from being drab and boring. With relationships, life seems complete, fun-filled and exciting. In our lives, relations serve as a catalyst to enhance support and boost up energy that enables us to become assertive and more dedicated towards resolving our problem and moving forward in our life. It is the driving force like the steam in a steam engine that instills in us the power to move swiftly towards achieving our goals.

relationships1Why are Relationships Important?

Sometimes, being in a relationship can be stressful. Sustaining a relationship can be a struggle too. The pace of our lives is so hasty that we often end up rating relationships with least priority. Yet, there are thousands of strong reasons that support the presence of relationships in our life. First-of-all, it is a basic necessity. The most significant thing that people need to move on in life is not money or achievements or even recognition; it is love that people yearn for. Whether we express it or not, we do feel lonely and empty from inside without love around us. It is something that makes our life worth living. And how do we get love? Through relationships! There is no other way to be loved or to give love without relationships. It is the sole way.

In our so busy lives, we need blissful refreshment. Relationships act as that “tonic” which gives us everything from care, attention, fun to serenity and tranquility of our mind. It is that place from where our greatest joys come from. It gives us genuine happiness. People who don’t get married actually feels loneliness even some of them realizes its importance in their forties or sixties and then they search for a life partner by using different means, I heard about over sixties dating UK and in America over forties dating is very common. They are also a great source of learning. We learn to care and share. Healthy relationships help us build self-esteem, perk up mental and emotional health and helps us lead a fuller life. While the quality of our relationships has a profound impact on our physical health, they can also be the most dynamic classroom for spiritual growth.

relationships2Talking about the movie “cast away”, Tom Hank’s character, who is shipwrecked on an isolated island, creates a face on a volleyball which he names “Wilson” and he talks to that ball as a person. Despite the humorous element of the movie, we get to learn the importance of social beings and relationships in our life.

relationships3Similarly, the book “A course in miracles” by Helen Schucman and William Thetford very eloquently expresses the importance of relationships in our life. To quote from the book itself: “When you meet anyone, remember it is a holy encounter. As you see him you will see yourself. As you treat him you will treat yourself. As you think of him you will think of yourself. Never forget this, for in him you will find yourself or lose yourself.” We share some sort of relationship with every person we meet and it gives us a chance to look beyond the existence of two separate beings, and to discover the common personality that we both share. The Course believes that each one of us is a tiny fragment and together we make a “Whole” fundamental unity. Relationships are the tools that demand us to emerge from “separateness” into “oneness”. The moment we enter this world, we come to find a lot of relationships waiting for us; we build many big and small relationships with people around us. Our bond with people grows stronger as we grow up. And even when we die, the relationships that we had built, doesn’t die. It stays as a proof of our being into this world which perpetuates even when we are not there to attend it.
